Ever been in a place where you can’t make up your mind?

Well, we’ve all been there, havent we?, and some of us get stuck in there longer than others! And is’nt it a terible place to be?

There is nothing more debilitating than not being able to make up your mind.  It can make you ill. I think it’s actally worse than choosing the ‘wrong’ thing.

But what IS the wrong thing?

In this world where everything is a matter of choice, it’s hard to know whether something is going to be right or wrong, unless you get a ‘gut instinct’ and just KNOW that this is the right thing for you to do, right now.

But what if you dont get that pull of intuition? Being stressed out and mentallyscattered is usually the reason…..No-one can find that deeper place of intuition and gut feelings if your mind is busy with the past and the future and not in the moment.

What do I mean by this?

Well, its a load of what if’s, perhaps’es and maybe’s — and a lot like thinking about moving house. You know you want to, the house your’e in doesnt suit you any more; you really know what kind of house you would like, but, oh dear!  there are so many factors to think about.

Will I be able to manage; where would I like this house to be; can I afford it; what if house prices go down; how will the children cope with new schools; will I find any new friends; will I have terrible neighbours?

All these thoughts of what might be, should be, ought to be, crowd into your mind and the internal arguements begin. And thats where is gets tricky, because some of us can argue with ourselves until the cows come home…. and all the points of view can be equally valid.

This is where hypnotherapy can come in very useful, and I am not talking about going to see a therapist right now……I’m talking about learning self hypnosis and teaching yourself how to calm your mind and  go to that inner place where you CAN find out what it is you really want, and what the fears are that are giving you such a hard time by argueing with you constantly!

Because internal arguements and the constant self questioning come from the fearful part of you that  says ”better the devil you know than the devil you dont” and thinks that any kind of change is going to be a trauma.

And sometimes it is! (a trauma, I mean).  Because we set ourselves up by having too many rigid boundaries and thoughts, we leave no room for flexibility and manoeuver; no room for adjustments and letting go, if something doesnt go exactly right the first time.

Life is so much easier if you can duck and dodge, weave in and out and generally look for a million alternate ways to look at something you see as a problem.

Being in a calm space is the best place to look from, and helps you  to ‘step outside of yourself’ and look at it from every point of view. It’s the old adage…..putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, and seeing the problem from a different point of view.

Then you can weigh things up with all the information available,…. and from that calm place, get in touch with your heart and see what it feels like. Because all the best choices come from the heart and not the head. They may seem scarey to the mind, but in the long run, if your heart says ‘Yes’ then you are on the right track.
